>> Verses to Scan (NIV)
- Proverbs 15:5 A fool spurns his father’s discipline, but whoever heeds correction shows prudence.
- Ephesians 6:1-4 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”-which is the first commandment with a promise-“that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

>> Thoughts to Ponder
- If a parent has abandoned you, check out the Abandonment Link, and remember Colossians 3:13. “Forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Even if your dad or mom never says they’re sorry, even if they never come back, even if they never tries to make things right with you . . . you have to forgive them. Bitterness takes a far bigger toll on the unforgiver than on the unforgiven.
